Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross

History

Since its inception, the Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross race has been run as a charity for the education of Chris Sander. His father, Ed, was a member of NCVC in the early 2000s, and worked at Lilly Ponds, the venue. Ed died in a training accident, and the race is NCVC's legacy to him.

For the first two years (2001 and 2002) the event was a century ride hosted out of Lily Pons Water gardens
In 2004, NCVC also promoted the MABRA cyclocross championships on the Ed Sander/Lilypons course (2004-12-04
In 2012, heavy rain from Hurricane Sandy  caused the Moncacy River to overflow its levee, which submerged the course only a week before the event. NCVC was forced to reschedule the race for December 16.
