Montgomery County Criterium

History

The "IBM  course" had been used since the early 1970s for the IBM training series, when only a few buildings existed on the ring road. In the late 1970s and into the 1980s the course was also used for a series of high school bicycle races.
The event lasted until 2000, when construction of the bridge over the I270 spur and the opening of a second exit from I270 onto Rock Spring made it impossible to control traffic on the course.  Parking was always in the Walter Johnson High School Parking lot. Registration was generally near the start/finish line.
